Learn to Lead Climb (2 day)

If you’re comfortable seconding or top roping routes on single pitch crags, this 2 day trad workshop is the next logical step towards learning to lead outside. ‘Learn to Lead Climb’ is the perfect follow-on from our Single Pitch Climbing course and aims to build skills in areas such as gear placement (and retrieval), belay building, and lead climbing in a single pitch environment.

All courses can be tailored to groups of most ages and abilities. Minimum age – 10 years old.

Participants should have a familiarity with outdoor trad climbing techniques such as single pitch top rope and bottom rope systems, basic anchor building and abseiling.

Tradsition is the perfect follow on from our Beginners Trad Climbing 1 day course or our Single Pitch Climbing 2 day course

Day 1

10:00am – Meet your instructor

6 hours of rock climbing tuition. Skills covered include recap on anchor building, focusing on different types of gear placement options, multi point belay construction and the importance of directional rope systems. Depending on how much recapping is required, we may finish the day top rope leading.

Lunch options are available

16:00pm – Depart

Day 2

6 hours of rock climbing tuition. Skills covered include following on from day one with top rope leading, anchor and lead placed gear assessment and eventually committing to an unassisted lead. If time allows, we may also cover some basic single pitch rescue techniques to deal with stuck or injured climbers.
